things I've been loving lately (ep. 1)

I find jolts of inspiration everywhere: while watching a cerebral film, or stepping into a thoughtfully-designed cafe. This is why I wanted to create a series called 'things I've been loving lately' whether it be any form of media (television, books, music), or places/events I recommend, in hopes that you feel inspired as much as I did.

Television: Nobody Wants This

I have never laughed so much watching a TV series. This Netflix series follows an agnostic sex podcaster and a newly single rabbi as they traverse into a romance. This was such a brilliant, modern rom-com that easily tickled its way to the target audience. Additionally, I mean, it's Adam Brody... we love Adam Brody.

Music: We Only Ever Meet In Strange Dreams EP (Niki Colet)

If you haven't listened to Strange Dreams then you're missing out on this electro-indie genius of a song. This single has been on loop for me since Niki released it, and have been waiting for the rest of the songs to come out since then. I listen to this EP every single day. It's ethereal, lonely, and most importantly, passed the vibe check. You can always tell when something is made with heart, and almost always it becomes as great as this.

Literature: All The Lovers In The Night by Mieko Kawakami

Let me preface this by saying that I have not been reading as much as I used to, and that's okay. I haven't had the brain-space to absorb what I'm reading amid the rush of launching Geisha Matcha. However, I've been having the luxury of slower days lately, and how I missed getting lost in a good book. I'm only 60 pages in Kawakami's latest work so I can't really say too much except that I'm loving the conversation about womanhood in relation to expectations based on societal norms. Stay tuned for a full review when I'm done reading!

Food & Beverage: Muscovado Matcha

There's something about muscovado sugar. Its deep molasses flavor profile makes it more complex, and I recently tried making syrup out of it. (Just follow a 2 parts sugar and 1 part water ratio!) I've been adding it to my matcha lattes and couldn't get enough!

That's it for my first newsletter! Don't hesitate to share if you've been loving any of these too or have been planning to try them.
Love, Geisha
